SELL YOUR BOAT

List your boat and connect with serious buyers worldwide

To sell your boat successfully on our platform, follow these key steps:

1 Write a detailed listing

Use the boat builder's exact specifications wherever possible (dimensions, onboard equipment, engine hours, tank capacities, accessories, outfittings and brand names). Highlight any upgrades clearly and ensure all information given in your ad is truthful and transparent.

2 Prepare the boat thoroughly

Clean the interior and exterior, remove all personal items, repair minor cosmetic issues and organise service records.

3 Present your boat as it really is

Ensure the photos and videos of your boat are genuine and accurately represent it. Take high-quality photos, ideally while the boat is on the water, and include a few images from the most recent haul-out if available. Do not upload fully AI generated or altered images of your boat. Where possible, add interior and exterior layout plans to help buyers better understand the vessel.

4 Share detailed information

You know your boat best. Provide the buyers with accurate, trustworthy information by sharing details on:

Interior overall condition and maintenance
Engine service history and performance
Keel and rudder stock inspection and repair details
Rigging last inspection and condition
Seacock checks
Thrusters functionality
Sails onboard type and age
Onboard equipment and electronics overall condition
Watermaker, boiler, gas cooker/oven, heads, all tanks
Mast and boom type and condition
Hull inspections and maintenance (osmosis, cracks, etc.)
Propeller and anchor windlass condition and functionality
Leaks or damage signs around windows, doors, hatches or other areas

This level of detail helps buyers feel confident, making the sale smoother and more transparent.

5 Have paperwork ready

Ensure you have the bill of sale, registration documents and any other necessary paperwork on hand.

6 Respond and negotiate

Respond promptly and honestly to buyer inquiries. Be prepared to arrange sea trials or a survey if requested, and set a clear absolute minimum price in advance to guide confident and fair negotiations.

Important: Do not release the boat, hand over keys, or any ownership documents until all funds have been fully verified and cleared. For large transactions, use secure payment methods or the service of a trusted agent to ensure both parties are protected.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

While spring and summer typically attract more local buyers, listing your boat in winter can also be effective. With less competition you can connect with interested buyers globally all year round.
It's important to do your own research to determine the value of your boat. You can estimate a realistic market price based on your vessel's age, model, and condition. Ultimately, no one knows your boat better than you do. We're confident you can set an accurate price by considering what you would be willing to pay for a boat in the same condition. If you prefer to keep the price private, you also have the option to leave it blank, entirely your choice.
Research shows that most used boats sell within three months when priced correctly. The key factors influencing sale time are the asking price, the quality of your listing, and the overall condition of the vessel. Including clear photos, videos, and maintenance records can significantly improve your chances of a quick sale.
Charging a fee for listings helps signal to potential buyers that the seller is serious about selling their boat. This creates greater trust and confidence, making the buying experience smoother and more reliable for everyone. In addition, our business is fully independent, without reliance on investors or external funding, allowing us to stay focused on quality, fairness and long-term sustainability.
A boat bill of sale is a legal document that transfers boat ownership from the seller to the buyer. Both must sign it (sometimes with a witness, lender, or notary) and it's usually completed after the boat is delivered and payment is made.
